Job Description Summary The Department of Computer Science Undergraduate Advising Office is seeking to hire an Academic Advisor. This team supports students in navigating the academic experience. We see academic advising as a student-centered partnership that facilitates learning and development. Our team aims to build an equitable and inclusive environment that adapts to meet the diverse needs of our students. This is the largest major on campus that includes 3000+ undergraduate students. The person in this role will advise a large caseload and work on various administrative tasks both in academic affairs and student affairs. These tasks can include, but are not limited to, degree clearances, prerequisite checks, course permissions, student supervision, workshops, events, and orientation. Minimum Qualifications Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Experience: Two (2) years of experience providing counseling or advising services. Other: Additional work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to four (4) years of the required education. Knowledge of best practices in organization and administration. Knowledge of public relations and marketing techniques. Skill in oral and written communication. Skill in the use of Microsoft Office products. Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, regulations, and laws. Ability to multitask while demonstrating a commitment to customer service and sensitivity to a culturally and ethnically diverse community.
