JOB OVERVIEW

As an Android Wi-Fi & AOSP Engineer, you will play a critical role in enhancing and debugging the Google Cast feature within Android, focusing specifically on the Wi-Fi network stack and middleware layers. You'll collaborate with a supportive and experienced team, tackling challenging projects for market leaders and driving innovation in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Deep Dive into AOSP Wi-Fi Stack: Work extensively within the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) Wi-Fi framework, focusing on the layers above the driver level.
  • Google Cast Integration & Optimization: Be instrumental in the integration, improvement, and debugging of the Google Cast feature on Android devices.
  • Wi-Fi Network Expertise: Ensure smooth and stable Wi-Fi connectivity for seamless casting experiences.
  • Network Optimization for Media Streaming: Analyze and optimize network settings, potentially including Quality of Service (QoS), buffer management, and channel selection, to enhance media streaming performance for Google Cast.
  • AOSP Wi-Fi Debugging & Development: Utilize your strong debugging skills within the AOSP Wi-Fi environment to identify and resolve complex network-related issues affecting casting functionality.
  • Middleware Development & Troubleshooting: Contribute to the development and troubleshooting of Android middleware components related to Wi-Fi and casting.
  • Wi-Fi Supplicant Expertise: Leverage your experience in troubleshooting issues related to the Wi-Fi supplicant (authentication, encryption, and connection).
  • Security Protocol Implementation: Apply your knowledge of Wi-Fi Security Protocols (WPA2, WPA3) to ensure secure casting connections.
  • Collaboration & Innovation: Work closely with the team to develop cutting-edge technology and contribute innovative solutions.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in Android development with a strong emphasis on the Wi-Fi stack and middleware.
  • Extensive experience with the Android Open Source Project (AOSP), specifically in the Wi-Fi module.
  • Proven expertise in debugging and developing within the AOSP Wi-Fi framework.
  • Strong understanding of Android Networking APIs.
  • Significant experience troubleshooting issues related to the Wi-Fi supplicant (authenticate, encryption, and connect to a wireless network) within the Android environment.
  • Solid understanding of Wi-Fi Security Protocols such as WPA2 and WPA3.
  • Familiarity with network analysis tools like Wireshark.
  • Proficiency in C++, Java, and/or Kotlin.
  • Experience with casting technologies like Google Cast, Airplay, Miracast, WiDi, or DLNA is a plus.

The annual salary range for this role is $80,000 $250,000 per year.

The Annual Salary depends upon various job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs, and market demand. This range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
