The Official Court Reporter for 241 st District Court is responsible for capturing a verbatim record of live court proceedings and providing readback if needed to the judge of the designated court. The Official Court Reporter will prepare accurate transcriptions of required proceedings for attorneys and/or court of appeals. This court requires mechanical transcription writing.
High School Diploma or GED completion of some college level course work and minimum five years of experience in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and related experience required.
Licenses and Certifications
As stated in Government Code Section 154.101 Certification of Reporters
A person may not be appointed an official court reporter or a deputy court reporter unless the person is certified as a shorthand reporter by the Supreme Court. A certification issued under this chapter must be for machine shorthand.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment. Must be able to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Position requires the ability to lift more than 20 pounds. Position requires the ability to see and speak as well as above average hearing.
