Job Description

Highly respected freight forwarder is looking for a Customs Brokerage professional to join their family on Long Island, New York. This role is responsible for a-through-z brokerage functions, from entry writing to final delivery.

Main Responsibilities:
Prepare quotations for services and fees.
Utilize HTS to classify imported commodities.
Submit ISF and Customs entries for international shipments.
Prioritize tasks for expedited clearance and avoidance of penalties.
Comply with all laws, rules, and regulations.
Work with government agencies, customer and vendors throughout the import process.
Execute protocols for exams, holds, and requests for information/documentation.
Monitor cargo for release from Customs and other agencies.
Arrange delivery to final destination and obtain proof of delivery.
Make note of financial transactions per shipment.
Prepare billing/invoicing and resolve discrepancies.
Provide guidance on brokerage matters to colleagues and customers.

Main Requirements:
Min 2 years of ocean import entry writing experience.
Current knowledge of documentation, INCO terms, Harmonized Tariff Schedule, laws, rules, regulations, etc.
Knowledge of cargo transportation operations for air and ocean imports, both LCL and FCL.
Understanding of FDA, USDA, DOT, USFWS, PGAs, etc.
Passion for the fast-paced, dynamic, and sometimes frustrating world of logistics.
Effective and professional communication skills.

Resourceful, analytical problem-solver and computer savvy.
