Job Description

Data Analyst, Bureau of Tuberculosis Control

The mission of the Bureau of Tuberculosis Control is to prevent the spread of tuberculosis and to eliminate it as a public health problem in New York City. Reporting to the Director of Disease Investigation and Case Management (DICM), the Data Analyst will perform data analysis on case management activities captured in the TB registry to generate reports, identify and track trends, areas of concern, and conduct routine quality assurance reviews. Duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Perform medium to high level data analysis on case data entered in the Electronic Disease Surveillance System (TB registry).
  • Prepare routine and episodic reports including but not limited to, monthly case management activity statistics, Monthly DOT statistics, quarterly report for NY State, and CDC reports, etc.
  • Perform medium to high level quality assurance on CM data and identify trends.
  • Perform DICM evaluation activities and assist with DICM research efforts.
  • Maintain, manage DICM data files, spreadsheets, and databases.

Preferred Skills:

  • Excellent data management skills, experience cleaning, manipulating, and analyzing large data sets using statistical software such as SAS, SQL, and R.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and comfortable in preparing and delivering presentations to medium to large groups.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and track progress to adhere to set timelines.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple and diverse assignments.
