Environmental Engineer

In the role of Environmental Engineer , we'll count on you to:

• Perform complex assignments, exercising judgment in evaluation, selection and modification of standard engineering techniques and procedures for environmental remediation projects that include remediation design and implementation
• Make decisions on significant design and engineering procedures as needed
• Function as a Technical Specialist or Project Manager on mid-size projects as needed, but project management is not the sole focus of this position
• Supervise a small staff of professionals and technicians as needed
• Perform other duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications

Experience & Technical Skills

• 5 years in environmental engineering design (e.g., remediation systems, industrial wastewater, well design, pumps, pipes, ponds)
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and GIS
• Strong project management skills, including managing multiple projects and teams
• Experience with CERCLA remediation, permitting, and regulatory compliance, especially for agricultural clients
• Skilled in field investigation and drilling program management, particularly in geologic and hydrogeologic settings

Project & Team Leadership

• Ability to lead and mentor junior staff, including technical oversight and quality control
• Coordinate and schedule field teams, especially within the Idaho Resources team
• Manage site investigations and remediation projects for state, federal, and private clients
• Oversee field data collection, analysis, and interpretation

Communication & Documentation

• Prepare reports and proposals, including scopes of work, budgets, and schedules
• Comfortable with client interaction and presentations (in-person and virtual)
• Collaborate with clients and regulators to develop strategies and recommendations

Certifications & Preferences

• 40-hour HAZWOPER and MSHA 40-hour Underground Miner training preferred
• Local candidates are preferred
• A seller-doer mindset (business development + technical delivery) is a strong asset

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering or closely related Engineering field
• Previous experience designing and creating plans and specifications for environmental engineering projects, such as remediation design and implementation
• Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license
• Self-motivated, able to work independently and with a project team to completion of a task
• An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
