Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Nurse Administrator. In this role, the successful candidate provides clinical leadership and coordinates nursing resources, supports, guides, and serves as clinical consultant to local leadership and staff, represents the hospital to patients, families and external agencies as required, consistent with the philosophy, goals, and mission of NYU Langone Health. Fosters, and sustains an environment of excellence in patient/family service, and quality nursing care. Serves as a liaison between hospital nursing staff, hospital administration, and other departments and disciplines regarding patient care and other related matters during hospital approved holidays and, on the evening, night, and weekend hours.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Participates in interviews and ensures that employees are appropriately selected, on-boarded, oriented, educated, and evaluated. Supports clinical rotations of students as part of partnerships for school affiliations.
  • Serves as a liaison between the leadership on-premises and administrator on call, chief medical officer, and others during hours that hospital administration is not present.
  • Acts as a clinical and administrative resource to staff involved in potential or actual sentinel events and reports the details through the appropriate risk management channels. Identifies situations that potentially pose a threat to the safety of patients, visitors, or staff, intervenes to resolve the immediate issues.
  • Communicates pertinent, value-added information to incoming nurse administrator(s), respective nurse managers, directors of nursing, and vice president of Nursing and Patient Services, and pertinent hospital administrators, supporting effective exchange of information.
  • Serves as role model and resource for staff. Conducts appreciative coaching, counseling, and assists with progressive discipline, as appropriate, in alignment with the principles of a caring, fair, professional work environment. Exercises fair and effective labor relations and timely intervention in conflict situations
  • Holds self and others accountable for the delivery of exemplary care in a cost-efficient manner.
  • Communicates with clarity and integrity to build trust with all stakeholders. Communicates significant patient care issues, family concerns, safety, risk management concerns and critical events to senior leadership, seeks consultation and assistance when indicated.
  • Ensures compliance with accreditation, regulatory standards, service standards and policies at the organizational, local, state, and federal level
  • Allocates resources to meet patient care needs. Supports daily schedules to meet unit's patient care models in alignment with Department of Health guidelines.
  • Participate in the implementation of the nursing strategic plan
  • Develops positive and productive relationships across disciplines to establish strategic partnerships to achieve shared goals.
  • Fosters high reliability concepts within the unit/organizational structure

Minimum Qualifications: To qualify you must have a Current Registered Professional Nurse licensure in New York State. Basic Life Support Certification through the American Heart Association Master's degree in nursing required. At least three years of pertinent clinical practice. Certification in nursing leadership required. Ability to apply nursing process toward achievement of specific outcomes in an organized fashion to address patient/family satisfaction and quality indicators. Excellent communication (both oral and written), interpersonal, organization, critical thinking, problem solving, and leadership skills. Preferred 1 - 2 years Leadership or supervisory experience. Required Licenses: Registered Nurse License-NYS, Basic Life Support Cert

The salary range for the role is $112,250.09 - $137,812.50 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
