Overview:
The GI Lab is a specialty procedural area for GI and Pulmonology procedures with 5 gastroenterologist and 4 pulmonologists. Our staff covers 2 procedural areas: the outpatient only- area in our physician’s plaza building and the hospital procedural area in the main hospital. Both locations have a pre/post unit. The hospital area serves high-risk outpatients, inpatients and ED patients. Every nurse trains and works in the 3 nursing roles: admitting nurse, circulating nurse (in the procedure room) and recovery/discharge nurse. We perform 50-60 procedures a day. Our shifts are 8 hours during the weekdays.
