Job Description: Shipfitter
Pay: $37.00
Sign-on bonus: $1,250
As a Shipfitter, you will utilize your knowledge of metalworking techniques, welding, and blueprint interpretation to craft, fit, and align various metal pieces, ensuring structural integrity and vessel functionality. Your role will involve working with a diverse range of materials and tools, contributing to the construction, repair, and maintenance of maritime structures. Collaborate with a team to achieve production goals while adhering to safety protocols and industry standards.
QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE:
3 years in a related industry required.
Pass approved A-Class Fitter Test
Must demonstrate an acceptable proficiency and competency for an A-Class Fitters position.
Must demonstrate ability to interpret and work from construction drawings, job specifications, instruction manuals, manufacturers handbooks, change order, and contract specifications.
Thorough knowledge of equipment, work processes and techniques used in measuring, and fitting of aluminum/steel components, modules and vessels.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and measure using the metric system.
Knowledge of shipyard terminology such as general ship structure and vessel layout.
Knowledge of edge preparation and weld joint details.
Advanced working knowledge of engineering drawings and sketches.
All employees are expected to adhere to the companys safety policies to maintain a safe and healthy work environment. This role involves working under extreme hot or cold conditions and requires the physical ability to stand for the entire shift, use hands for various tasks, ascend stairs, balance, stoop,kneel, crouch, talk, and hear. Team members must occasionally lift items weighing up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required include close, distant, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
