Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Telemetry position caring for cardiac and post-surgical patients in a hospital setting, requiring WI or compact RN licensure and 2 years of telemetry experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 40-bed Cardiac Telemetry Unit within a hospital environment
• Primary patient population includes medical cardiology, heart and lung surgery, and vascular surgery
• Provides care for step-down critical care patients
• Utilizes electronic charting, Pyxis medication system, IV Alaris pumps, PCA’s, bar code scanning, temporary pacers, chest tubes, and wound vacs
• Epic EMR used with training provided during orientation
• Required to work 12-hour night shifts with varied shifts and every other weekend
• No call required
• Nurse to patient ratios: Days 3-4, Evenings 4, Nights 5
• Floating required within the critical care cluster (MSICU, MSIMC, CICU) and occasionally to med-surg areas (MAP, OCU, PCU, PSCU)
• May be required to float to facilities in Wausau, Merrill, and Langlade regions
• Responsible for assessments, medication administration, monitoring telemetry, dressing changes, and care of step-down critical care patients
• One 12-hour day orientation provided in the department including learning lab, mini-hospital orientation, and Epic training
• Scrub attire required
• Facility may call off up to 36 hours per 13-week contract
• Travelers may be required to work at various facilities within the Central Region

Requirements

• Active WI or compact RN license
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Minimum of 2 years telemetry experience
• Ability to perform basic EKG interpretation and handle specialized equipment relevant to cardiac and vascular patient care
