Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Telemetry Float Pool role requiring AZ or compact RN licensure and ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications.

Responsibilities

• Position is within the Telemetry Float Pool at an acute care hospital with trauma level 1 designation
• Will float between all Telemetry and MedSurg units, including specialized areas like Neuro Tele, Cardiac Tele, and various holding areas
• Floats between Chandler and Mercy Gilbert campuses, with advance notice of assignments
• Patient ratios range from 1:3-4 for Telemetry/Neuro units and 1:4 for MedSurg units
• Common patient populations include post cath lab, post vascular procedures, post-surgical neuro, ortho, surgical, oncology, and general MedSurg
• Must work 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule and 2 of the 3 major holidays during assignment
• First to float when unit census allows; may be required to float mid-shift depending on staffing needs
• Required to wear navy scrubs while on assignment
• Spectralink phones used for communication; centralized telemetry monitoring in Tele and Neuro units
• Assignment includes 12-hour shifts, typically 7am to 7pm
• Charge nurse and supervisor support present on each unit
• Onsite RT and pharmacy available 24/7
• No pediatric patients; minimum age 15 years and older
• Returning employees must not have been directly employed by CommonSpirit facilities within the past year

Requirements

• Active AZ or compact (NLC) RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted
• Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience required
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Must have experience titrating cardiac drips and interpreting EKGs
• Experience with Cerner EMR preferred
• Must pass a dysrhythmia exam before contract and a simulation lab competency on first day of orientation; failure on either results in ineligibility for 6 months
• Documented references: one supervisor reference from the last 12 months and one supervisor or peer reference from the last 3 years
• Copy of valid driver’s license required for consideration
