Healthcare Position At Central State Hospital

Central State Hospital (CSH) is in Milledgeville, the lake country of central Georgia and is Georgia's antebellum capital. CSH is approximately 2 hours from Atlanta, 2 hours and 30 minutes from Savannah and 1 hour and 45 minutes from Augusta. Central State Hospital is the home of Georgia's maximum secure forensic hospital, operated in the Payton B. Cook building in Milledgeville. CSH serves individuals who are referred by the criminal justice system for pre-trial psychiatric evaluation and/or inpatient treatment; those who have been found not guilty by reason of insanity at the time of commission of a crime or mentally incompetent to stand trial; and those who are admitted on hold orders from jails for psychiatric evaluation, treatment and stabilization.

Day Shift: 8am - 5pm

Job Description:

• Manages, plans, organizes, and directs all nursing activities in assigned facility.
• Responsible for the quality of nursing care delivered in hospitals, public health facilities, and community based programs.
• Directs subordinate supervisors and staff.
• Reviews state, federal, and other regulatory standards information in order to direct the quality improvement activities and achieve compliance.
• Provides staff development including orientation, in-service training, workshops and continuing education for all levels of nursing staff.
• Plans and directs the work of nursing or other professional staff and assures an adequate level of nursing care.
• Oversees the collection of data for statistical records.
• Organizes and plans a systematic and continuous quality/performance improvement program for the practice of nursing.
• Makes long-range plans and regularly reviews activities, problems and functions of services being delivered.
• Interprets policies and communicates changes in regulations and procedures. Initiates and participates in the development of community wide policy to improve the health status of the stakeholder.
• Evaluates nursing standards and nurse protocols for all nursing programs. Develops staffing patterns.
• Develops policies, sets standards and plans objectives for the nursing program in accordance with established policies.
• Develops and manages the budget and makes cost effective decisions.
• Coordinates response to disaster and emergencies.

High School and College Degrees Must Be From an Accredited Institution

Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and four (4) years of experience as Registered Nurse, two (2) years of which in an administrative or supervisory capacity and current Georgia license as a Registered Professional Nurse; or eight (8) years of experience at the lower level as a Registered Nurse (HCP073) or position equivalent, two (2) years of which in an environment related to the area of assignment, three (3) years of which as a supervisor and current Georgia license as a Registered Professional Nurse.
