Job Description

As an integral part of the interdisciplinary team, the Registered Nurse utilizes the nursing process to provide therapeutic care to patients. The Registered Nurse is accountable for the coordination of patient care and education to the patient and family in accordance with the standards, policies, and practices in a compassionate, supportive, and therapeutic environment.

Essential Duties:

• Follows policies and procedures; demonstrates ability to access online manuals.
• Transfers learned scientific knowledge into practical application in applying the Nursing Process.
• Assesses appropriately upon patient admission, at each shift, and with changes in condition. Completes patient acuity assessments daily by 0200/1400.
• Interprets assessment information and formulates Nursing Diagnoses.
• Develops and revises Plans of Care with individualized interventions and expected outcomes based on patient evaluation.
• Administers medication and IV therapy as prescribed; delegates tasks based on scope of practice and competency; acts as patient advocate; manages restraint use per policy.
• Ensures complete and accurate documentation on all forms and flow sheets; transcribes and signs off orders timely; performs chart checks.
• Provides patient and family education tailored to individual needs, including use of MICROMEDEX information.
• Collaborates with Case Manager and/or physician for discharge planning; completes transfer paperwork and ensures belongings are sent with the patient.
• Utilizes patient care equipment safely and appropriately according to manufacturer guidelines.
• Communicates effectively with healthcare team, patients, and families; manages shift reports and hand-offs.
• Manages time effectively, prioritizes responsibilities, and completes shifts on time without overtime.
• Observes regulatory requirements including safety protocols, patient identification, medication reconciliation, and infection control procedures.
• Manages care for specific patient groups, including medical-surgical, ICU, step-down, dialysis, and psychiatric patients, demonstrating appropriate skills and safety measures.
• Participates in professional development activities and hospital committees; may serve as preceptor and obtain certifications.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

  Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent; grandfathered from BSN if hired prior to 12/2019.
  • At least 1 year of acute inpatient hospital experience in the U.S.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • Knowledge of medical procedures, including blood collection and apheresis, and ability to follow policies and regulations.
  • Commitment to patient care excellence and customer service.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  Preferred Qualifications:

  • Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) or other specialty certifications.

  Required Licenses/Certifications:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license from CA Board of Registered Nursing.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association.
  • Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) within 30 days of hire if applicable.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) from American Heart Association.
  • Oncology certifications within six months of hire if applicable.
